Casa Italia Retreat Policy

 

Casa Italia is located on the grounds of the former Sacred Heart Seminary; between Division, 39th, Soffel 

and 37th in Stone Park.  Retreats are held in the large building on the south end of campus. Parking is 

available behind the Italian Cultural Center, 1621 N. 39th Street. 

 

We continue to hold retreats as did the Scalabrini Fathers, who maintain ownership of this wooded 17-acre center.  

The grounds are home to the Calvary Shrine and an outdoor Stations of the Cross, which we invite you to visit.  A 

meeting room and use of the chapel are included as part of our retreat amenities.  Additional meeting rooms are 

available for additional fees. 

 

Deposit/Refund Policy 

A 20 percent deposit is required at the time of scheduling.  The balance is due within 2 weeks of the first day of the 

retreat. All checks should be made out to Casa Italia Inc. Refunds may be requested 30 days prior to the first day of 

the retreat.    

 

Times 

Check-in and check out times are established in order to accommodate cleaning and maintenance staff schedules.  

Any extension of these times will result in additional fees. 

 Check-in time is 1 p.m. 

 Check-out time is 3 p.m.   

 

Donations 

Room rates are based on double occupancy; please add $15 per day for single occupancy.  Commuters are charged 

a rate of $15 per day excluding meals.

Food Policy 

 All food is prepared by Casa Italia Banquet Center staff; however catering arrangements may be made in 

advance if management is notified.  Meals that are provided by Casa Italia must be schedule a month in advance of 

retreat.  Due to insurance risks, Casa Italia kitchens are not available for use by retreat attendees.  The Festival 

Center kitchen is available during the off season for a fee of $350 per day.    

  

Linens 

Clean sheets and towels are provided to each attendee.  An accounting of towels and sheets will be made following 

all retreats.  Missing items will be billed to the retreat sponsor. 

 

Furniture/Set up 

Tables, chairs religious statues and other furniture or materials may not be moved.  In the event that materials are 

needed in order to better facilitate your retreat, please contact management.  The retreat sponsor will be responsible 

for the reimbursement for any broken or missing items. 

 

Chapel Sacristy 

The Casa Italia Sacristy contains the property of the Fathers of St. Charles; please be respectful of their belongings, 

which is inventoried.   Vestments and other items will be available. 

 

Miscellaneous 

 There are no on-site telephones. 

 The Sisters of St. Charles maintain a religious gift shop on at their convent, which is adjacent to Casa Italia 

on the corner Division and 37th Street.   

 All doors should be closed and locked from the outside at all times. 

 Casa Italia is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. 

 Retreats may not include children of the attendees.
